FAMILY FOCUSED

Welcome to my blog! After much persuasion from my sister I have agreed to start blogging my favorite photography moments. I am not really up on the blogging scene, but I am going to give it a go anyway. So, here we go....

I, like many others, started taking photos of my children as they were little and growing and learned to love the creative outlet of photography. So in the early days I just liked "taking pictures". As I kept having children, the love of photography grew and developed with each child, and I became determined to learn to take the "perfect" picture. I have been blessed with four handsome sons. They have been my subjects/muses for these early years as I have developed my hobby.

Photography is pretty complicated with all the cameras, lenses, software, lighting, fancy equipment, etc. Getting the "perfect picture" can be challenging. My definition of the perfect picture is not so complicated though. I love freckles, snaggle teeth, holes in the knees of old blue jeans, messy hair, black eyes, and moms without make-up, little hands and toes, mommy hugs and kisses, and daddy playing ball in the yard while the sun is setting on a hot summer day. The reality of life in those special moments is what gives me that warm feeling in the pit of my belly and makes me smile.

So here are some of my favorite family-focused photos. The imperfections and reality are what make them very special and dear to my heart. Enjoy!

  1. That last photo is one of the best of all time. It truly is.

  2. Love these photos and love that you're blogging AND that you're booking sessions. You have the Alexander gene for observing the purest of moments in childhood and family and being able to hold it out for others to marvel, thus become more observing themselves. Go, Rachel, go.
